So I'm updating my blog and...

Ben Merkle is standing right there...should I say "hi"? I could say "I just got off the phone with your mother-in-law, she tells me your staying at her house right down the road." But instead I think I'll just let him order his two tall mocha frappachino, go get mom breakfast, and quite sounding like a stalker :)

Quote of the day:

Nothing fixes a thing so intensely in the memory as the wish to forget it. - Michel de Montaigne

Lost in transition

Yep that's me, still here but have no internet or time. Staying with an awesome family, the Blakeys. And I believe Mr. Blakey just gave me a job, and he has great, fun daughters. So this is just to let you know that things are going great at the moment! Hoping to get settled in tomorrow, set up my cute apartment and yes, Bess, I will be sending pics. Love to all!

I love Winston: (quotes that is :)

"An appeaser is one who feeds a crocodile, hoping it will eat him last."

"Although prepared for martyrom, I preferred that it be postponed."

"Every day you may make progress. Every step may be fruitful. Yet there will stretch out before you an ever-lengthening, ever-ascending, ever-improving path. You know you will never get to the end of the journey. But this, so far from discouraging, only adds to the joy and glory of the climb."

"From now on, ending a sentence with a preposition is something up with which I will not put."

"He has all the virtues I dislike and none of the vices I admire."

"History will be kind to me for I intend to write it."

Sir Winston Churchill

Einstein qoute of the day:

"If you want your children to be intelligent, read them fairy tales. If you want them to be more intelligent, read them more fairy tales."

Quotes for today:

"We improve ourselves by victories over ourself. There must be contests, and you must win."
Edward Gibbon English historian of Rome (1737 - 1794)

"Life is a coin. You can spend it anyway you wish, but you can only spend it once."

Last day in OR...

at least for a while any way. John Henry (who usually just looks at me funny) cast me a forlorn look over the spaghetti today at lunch and asked "Why do you have to go back to school? Why can't you just say here? I don't want you to leave." I believe he struck every heart string, so all I could say back was "That's a good question." I wish I could take them all with me.... (sigh)

let's not forget the facials Ruth treated Mom and I to yesterday. My first one! Ahhhh....
On 2nd thought nobody wants a picture of that :)

Christian the quotable

Mom asked the kids why Clifford was so much bigger than all of his dog friends and Christian informed her "it's because he's a hundred and two." Where he come up with half the things he says... If only I could remember them all.

Me influential??

Luke informed his grandma today that he didn't like his hair brown he wants it to be yellow.
John Henry's baseball tournament is tomorrow be there at 9am!

So... Ruth and I did a "little" shopping today.

We visited Plato's Closet (after visiting the mechanic at Sear's of course). Why they don't align the tires after they put new ones on I'll never guess, but enough for griping, I wouldn't give a wooden nickel for it and nobody wants to hear it. I have spent etirely too much these past few days, but the Lord has blessed me with that ability. The climax had to be Plato's closet since Ruth and I get to go every two years!! I managed to finagle my way into buying her a couple things for her birthday and she's still miffed about it :) She gives me a place to stay, stuffs me w/ her gourmet cooking, then won't let me buy her anything for her BIRTHDAY! I'll say this for her: nobody shops quite like Ruth. After trying 30 things on, finds 5 that she likes, then talks herself into 0, saying she doesn't need to clothe herself or some rubbish like that. Gotta love her, cause you won't want to do anything else.

Einstein quote for the day:

"He who can no longer pause to wonder and stand rapt in awe, is as good as dead; his eyes are closed."

Thursday July 19th

Ooops what happened to Thurs? Starting in Texas we made it thru Oklahoma and on into Kansas, which I don't think has anything but toll booths and State Troopers. Oh, and the Travel Inn we stayed at 'cause it was the only one for ANOTHER 200 miles. Confession: I got my first ticket, which I dropped in the mail this morning along w/ a nice check.

Thank you Mom!

I have my Grandma to thank for the car, Dad to thank for the support and love he continually gives, Mom to thank for working her little legs off at Dillard's to unselfishly give to others, Esther for all the packing help, Bess for the arranging in compact spaces skills, and .....wow! I have the best family in the world. Now i'm at Ruth's, who must have gotten the Aunt Til gene 'cause she won't stop feeding me!

Sunday July 22nd

Look at those Montana mountains!! If you haven't already you really should. We finally made it to the state of Idaho. We were proud of ourselves, making good time, 23 miles outside of Coeure D'Alene...just a couple more hours to go in this cramped car. What's that sound, oh a piece of tire just flew into the air. God bless Fred (father of four daughters ironically enough) for stopping and changing my tire. Who would know what patience was if it was never tested?

Saturday July 21st

Wake up in Yellowstone, yards from Old Faithful (a dream come true), little chipmunks everywhere. "When I consider Your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have ordained, what is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you visit him?" ~Psalm 8:3,4

Friday July 20th

Whew, finally made it thru Kansas, and we're in Wyoming baby! The scenery suddenly changes. Mountains pop up everywhere. I just couldn't pass anything without taking a picture...although I was trying to drive.

Columbia River everybody!

When sky meets water with the mountain view between...there's nothing quite like it.

Pictures just cannot do justice. Go to Wyoming! The beauty of Yellowstone is breathtaking. And the mountains are awe inspiring, daunting, yet serene.
Anybody seen my jackalope lately?

And we're off! Who dared to doubt all my junk would fit.
